Collect in clean, dry container and then transfer a minimum of 1 gram or 1 ml into a Cary-Blair stool culture transport medium. Fluid level should reach line on vial.

Minimum volume: 1 gram or 1 ml

Transport container: Cary-Blair stool culture transport medium

Transport temperature: Room temperature

Specimen stability:
  • Room temperature: 4 days
  • Refrigerated: 4 days
  • Frozen: unacceptable
Reject criteria:
  • Unpreserved at any temperature
  • Frozen specimens
  • Expired transport medium
  • Specimen in diaper
  • Parasitology transport vial
