Preferred Specimen: Plasma collected in a fluoride/oxalate tube

Preferred Volume: 4 - 1mL plasma collected in fluoride/oxalate tubes

Transport Container: Gray Top Glucose Tube (Fluoride/oxalate tube)

Transport Temperature: Room Temperature

Specimen Stability: Room Temperature: 7 days

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Immediately after fasting specimen is obtained have patient ingest a 100g load of glucose. Draw subsequent specimens 1, 2, and 3 hours later. Label each with the specific draw time.
NOTE: Patient preparation: Fasting REQUIRED. Fasting is defined as NO consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 8 hours before testing.

Rejection Criteria: Unspun SST; Red Top or Non-plasma Separator (PST) green-top tubes; Anticoagulants other than fluoride/oxalate.
