DLO and Mate Health Partner to Close the Gap in Couples' Fertility Care

For many couples, fertility can feel like a mystery. Nearly 1 in 6 couples experience infertility, and research shows that male factors contribute to about half of all cases. Yet men are often tested later in the process, or not at all, which can delay answers and increase emotional and financial strain.

To help improve access to male fertility testing, Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) has partnered with Mate Health to offer convenient, clinically validated at-home semen analysis testing.

This partnership allows patients to collect samples privately at home while still receiving laboratory grade results trusted by physicians.

Why Male Fertility Testing Matters

Traditionally, fertility evaluations begin with the female partner. However, sperm health plays a critical role in conception. Factors such as motility, movement, morphology, shape, vitality, live sperm percentage, and DNA integrity can all influence reproductive outcomes.

Evaluating these parameters early helps couples and providers make informed decisions and may reduce unnecessary delays in care.

How At Home Testing Works

Mate Health offers a simple, physician supported testing process:

  • Order your kit – Online or through a QR code brochure from your provider
  • Collect your sample at home – With clear, step by step instructions
  • Return the kit – Using secure shipping to a CLIA and CAP certified andrology laboratory
  • Receive results – Typically within 24 hours of laboratory receipt, with reports available to both the patient and the ordering provider

The kits use Active Cooling technology and a specialized semen preservative to maintain sample integrity during transport, allowing accurate laboratory analysis without requiring an in-office collection process.

What Makes This Approach Different

Mate Health analyzes more than 20 semen parameters, including DNA fragmentation, and provides results through a patient friendly digital report based on samples collected privately at home.

Both patients and their providers receive synchronized reports, supporting shared understanding and follow up discussions without requiring an in-office collection visit.

Results also include support from MateIQ, a guided results interpretation tool designed to help patients understand their measurements and prepare for informed conversations with their healthcare provider.

This model helps ensure results are clinically useful while remaining accessible and easy to interpret.

When to Consider Testing

At home semen analysis may be appropriate for:

  • Planning for pregnancy
  • Difficulty conceiving
  • Post vasectomy confirmation
  • Monitoring lifestyle or supplement changes

Whether beginning a fertility journey or confirming vasectomy clearance, objective data can provide reassurance and clarity.

Fast, Private, and Clinically Backed

All Mate Health testing is performed in a CLIA and CAP certified andrology laboratory and delivered through secure, HIPAA compliant systems.

Kits are discreetly packaged, and many orders are eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement.
